The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to establish more examination centres in the Diaspora to cater for candidates willing to study in Nigeria.

The assertion was made by the board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in an interview with pressmen on Saturday in Lagos.

Mr Benjamin explained that the board is determined to ensure that more candidates are given the opportunity to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) within and outside the country.

According to him, it was also to ensure that the examination was brought closer to some candidates who had constraints coming down to Nigeria to sit for the examination.

He said:-

“We have plans of conducting this examination in more foreign countries like the U.S. and a few others.

“We are working with the embassies of such countries which are our contacts for the project. “The possibility of getting this actualised depends on how fast they are able to transact the arrangement and the level of sensitisation.

“On our part, we are ready. All what it takes to conduct the examination successfully are fully on ground.’’

The 2016 Computer Based Test (CBT) was conducted in eight countries alongside the one conducted in the country.

Countries such as Cameroun, Saudi Arabia, U.K., Ghana, Republic of Benin and a few others are where the board is currently conducting its examination.
