Delta State Government is set to commence the Home Grown School Feeding Programme, HGSFP, for primary school pupils in the state in January 2017.

The programme is aimed at the feeding of primary school pupils between primaries one and three at the rate of N70 per child for 200 school days per annum.

Speaking at a two-day stakeholders workshop organized in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in Asaba, the state Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, expressed satisfaction with the framework of the programme which has recorded successes in Kaduna, Kano and Enugu states.

Represented by the state Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Kinglesy Emu, Okowa stressed the need for Nigerians to stop undermining the value of home grown products to encourage their productivity. He noted that the programme was keyed into the job creation agenda of the state government.
