Nigerian Veteran Actor Ignis Ekwe Dies After A Brief Illness

Nigerian veteran actor Ignis Ekwe, known for popular 80s and 90s soaps such as Everyday People, Behind the Clouds, and CockCrow at Dawn has passed on.

The actor, scriptwriter and university lecturer died on Monday, July 2, 2018, after a brief illness. His death was confirmed by his daughter, Nigerian singer Susan Emike Ekwe, aka Harmonee. His niece, popular Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede, also took to Instagram to mourn her late uncle.

Ekwe was from Fuga, Edo state and graduated from the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Benin in 1982. During his lifetime, he also starred in blockbuster movies like Igodo, The Price and many more Nollywood movies.
