Tom Cruise & Scientology leader David Miscavige ‘do everything together’

The Daily Mail has interviews with several former high-ranking Scientologists who really dish the dirt on Tom Cruise and his buddy, megalomaniac Scientology leader David Miscavige. They also have photos from the luxurious Scientology compounds where Cruise and Miscavige party, surrounded and catered to by countless low-ranking Scientologists who work around the clock for a pittance. The most outrageous stories are from the former head of security for Scientology HQ, a guy named Gary Morehead. Morehead details the intimate testosterone-heavy relationship between Cruise, 53, and Miscavige, 55.

Morehead also explains the insane amount of surveillance at Scientology headquarters, which allows higher-ups to spy on everyday activities and view “auditing” (similar to therapy except Scientologists hate legitimate therapy) sessions. There are hidden cameras, even in Tom Cruise’s private room. We’ve heard this from other former Scientologists, that Cruise and other celebrities’ auditing sessions were viewed, shared and mocked by Scientology members, and this is just confirmation of that. I’m not able to do justice to this story with these excerpts, which describe the excess, abuses and extreme control this insular cult has over Tom, even as they pamper and worship him as the defacto second in command.

Here are some excerpt from the story, with the highlights in my words except for the quoted text:

- Cruise stays for months in a luxurious villa on Scientology headquarters in Hemet, CA, just next to a giant mansion built for L. Ron Hubbard’s return (Scientologists think L.Ron will come back in another body) and right next to his best buddy, Scientology leader David Miscavige.

- Cruise and Miscavige once came back from Vegas in the early 90s with two thick bundles of cash, probably $40k a piece, and threw them down like bounty in front of the Scientology workers. The way this is worded, the staff wasn’t offered any of the money.

Morehead: “It’s a real bromance between [Cruise and Miscavige]. They do everything together – exercise and cigar smoke together.”

- Cruise tried to get the Beckhams to come to HQ and he had a field laser leveled into a soccer field for them, but they never came. Tennis

Cruise’s personal chef, Sinar Parman: “Tom would come out with all this stuff. He would talk to DM [David Miscavige] in this crazy way, his mannerisms were just unreal, all this tech speak. He would speak like the inner culture of Scientology, that’s the way you speak if you’re a complete Sci fanatic. He would pride himself on speaking in those buzz words.”

Cruise and Miscavige have been friends for 30 years. Parman: “DM and Tom would socialize all the time. They would just hang around with each other in the evenings, go out to the lounge where there’s more comfortable chairs. DM’s got this huge cigar humidor in the lounge, which is just a pretense for Cruise. They’d be smoking away.

‘I offered DM a cigar when Cruise wasn’t there and he said: “I don’t even like those things, you can still smell them three days later.”

‘It was a bromance – cigar-smoking, playing tennis, doing exercise together, out macho-ing each other. He even got DM parachuting with him, there’s a big place in Perris, CA where they did it. It was who could outdo the other.’

Morehead: everyone was under surveillance, especially Tom: “I know that there were two camera systems for Cruise – one was a camera he did know about – a JVC camera on a tripod – which made him believe that was it.

“But I had to set up a second camera in Tom’s auditing room. That was for Dave’s own personal entertainment although it was meant to be for the purpose of being professionally critiqued.

“It was Dave’s little secret to look inside people’s little sessions. If Tom ever wanted that tape, Dave would still have the other one.

“I started installing these secret surveillance systems – hidden camera systems where Tom and other staff had no idea they were being watched, recorded and reported.

The Mail has lots more quotes from Scientologists, including the news from former security chief Morehead that basically everything the anyone does within the headquarters is video recorded and reviewed, with a special emphasis on celebrities. Once, John Travolta realized that his auditing sessions were being viewed by a group of people. He got upset but “it was all justified because it was in-house and it wasn’t considered a crime.” There’s more about Nicole Kidman too. She took courses and spent months at HQ early in her relationship with Tom but seemed “spooked out” by it.

I used to be Catholic. For those of you who have experience with Catholicism or any other religion where you talk to your priest, can you imagine your confessions being taped and watched by other church members? I don’t know why I’m focusing on that, when there are so many other criminal aspects of this cult, like slave labor, child labor, child abuse and neglect and human rights abuses in general. This brings up so many questions, not least of which is the nature of Cruise and Miscavige’s relationship. They hang out together, live right next door to each for months at a time, and Miscavige was even on Tom Cruise’s honeymoon cruise with Katie Holmes. They are bros who head up a billion dollar cult, speak their own bizarre cult-speak language, race luxury cars and motorcycles together and are waited on hand and foot by parishioners. They’re both single now essentially, considering that Tom is divorced and Miscavige’s wife has disappeared. Meanwhile Tom is spied on constantly and all of his secrets are held over his head. It’s so absurd and yet ominous at the same time.
