TIWA SAVAGE – RED
With Yemi Alade running of with the crown, Seyi Shay warming up to become the leading lady, and many fans finding new favourites, Tiwa Savage couldn’t wait to return and claim her throne. It’s possible RED (abbreviation for ‘Romance, Expression and Dance’) is the album that’ll do the trick.

BEAUTIFUL NUBIA – Sound Bender
Many think the folk singer crawled back into his shell. But he’s been busy staging impressive gigs and concerts. Even more impressive is his latest album. Characteristic Nubia. You should listen.
OLAMIDE – Eyan Mayweather
The hardest working man in hip hop puts out his umpteenth studio album to mixed reviews. Have you listened yet? You haven’t? Should you? Should you not? Depends on who you’re listening to. Depends on what you’d expect from the man that wants to be the capon de Tutti of the streets.

TAYE CURRENCY – BBM (Birthday Bash and Message)
The Fuji star is using an enduring street credibility to navigate mainstream music cliques. And he’s working to Pasuma-Malaika formula – throwing himself into our everyday lives with a combo of wit, lingo and dance. More than enough supply of all the lingo you’ll need this year.
DAREY – Naked
Why you should listen? Scratch that. Why you should buy a dozen and more? Because Darey ensured this one is a masterpiece. Nothing comes close in 2015.

PASUMA – My Story
Pasuma’s debut pop album is a star-studded ambitious body of work that seeks to reiterate the musician’s versatility. He may not have won all the cool kids over yet, but he’s far ahead of his league.
SEYI SHAY – Seyi OR Shay
She’s a top contender for hardest working woman in showbiz. Seyi Shay’s debut album has failed to join the bestsellers’ list. But it’s something worth having in your collection. Not just because of the tracks that work; or because she’s actually a gifted writer and singer. But, Seyi or Shay is one of the few works from a female Nigerian act actually worth keeping.
OLAMIDE & PHYNO – 2Kings
In another world, they both be members of a world-famous band. While that’s not happening yet, the ethnic rappers get together to put work on an album that has found favour from South West, to South East Nigeria where they both rule like monarchs. It’s a decent album that should make you appreciate the saying ‘good music has no language barriers’.
FALZ – Stories That Touch
Falz’s second album makes you take him serious as a musician, even though he wants you to laugh all through. The comic by day, musician by night makes pundits beat their chests and say ‘ Yes we told you this one is super talented’.
Not your usual hip hop album. But definitely a refreshing addition to your library – especially in a year when Nigerian rappers have done more singing than rapping.

DJ SPINALL – My Story
A gathering of stars, a powerful push, and brilliant arrangement puts Spinall’s debut album in a position to attract more than one listen. Jimmy JATT is still a leader by kilometres, but Spinal is one of the few plotting a future for disc jockeying in Nigeria.
CHOC BOYS – TICBN
14 artistes, including the god, Jesse jags. Including the almighty M.I and the star boy Ice Prince. TICBN may not make you marvel immediately. But it’s the type of collection that should remain on your playlist once you understand it. Like EME’s Empire Mates State of Mind album, and MAVIN’s ‘Solar Plexus‘ this is the kind of projects should begin the year with.

TAIWO OMOTUNDE – Dancing Arena (Agbo Ijo)
He’s the juju act you may never have heard of. But 14 albums after, he’s beginning to hug the limelight since leaving full time employment to focus on music full time. One of the few juju works still making our newsroom move!
LERIQ – The Lost Sounds
Music producer, LeriQ broke into the scene as the guy who understood Burna Boy and his eccentric, fresh talent. Together they made hits to become a part of the country’s pop culture.
With his understanding, talent and knowledge of music, he recruits the best voices and entertainers in the industry to make this classic 20 track album.

IYANYA – Applaudise
Not the best of Iyanya materials. But why wouldn’t you want to have Iyanya’s third album in your collection?
SKALES – Man of the Year
Not likely anyone will crown him man of the year. But this is the album that made the singer-rapper relocate from upcomer to bonafide star. The album that gave him half a dozen hits, and a community of fans to call his. The album that made him scale the hurdle of being cast as a Wizkid wannabe and hater. You still won’t get it?

NAETO C – Day 1
The release of this album acted as a catalyst that re-activated Naeto C’s career. The rapper has been off for a while but his return was worth the wait.
On this album, Naeto C returned to basics of rap that was the foundation of his career before he went commercial and depreciated.
ORITSEFEMI – MSN
Self Styled musical Taliban is proudly enjoys his career ascension with his 5th studio album that pretty much seemed like his first album.
Although the album didn’t get a lot of positive reviews, nonetheless, the 22-track project is definitely worth listening to.
OREZI – Ghen Ghen
Call it the ‘Ghen Ghen’ effect and you’ll be spot on. After a series of postponement and failed release dates, Orezi finally dropped his debut album, and he didn’t disappoint.
The 20 track album Understandably begins with assertions about perfect timing, takeovers and territorial markings with a pseudo-track titled ‘Asiko’.
MALAIKA – Iya Mi
Fuji Star, Malaika dropped two albums in 2015. First was Ogbon Ati Ete before he followed up with ‘Iya Mi’ (my mother).
With the dedication of the album to mothers, Malika hit all the right spots with the album that got him trending in the fuji music world.
REMINISCE – Baba Hafusa
For Reminsce, it’s been a steady progression from his debut album ‘Book of Rap Stories’ to his second album ‘Alaga Ibile’ and now the rapper stole the first quarter of the year 2015 with the release of his 3rd studio album titled ‘Baba Hafusa’.
On this album, the award winning rapper shows his strengths without taking risks and growth without provoking deep emotions. “Baba Hafusa” sees Reminisce in his comfort zone from a lyrical and production view.
BURNA BOY – On A Spaceship
Two years after the release of his debut effort, L.I.F.E, controversial Buna Boy returns with ‘On A Spaceship’ a19 tracks album that opens up on a bold move with the Intro (an edit off Osagie Alonge’s #FactsOnly where he was actually being criticized for his endless controversies).

WANDE COAL – Wanted
It took Wande Coal 6 years to drop this album after his sophomore dropped in 2009. During the break, he’s suffered turbulence in his career, split from the Mavins and survived a public fallout with Don Jazzy. He packs jams and more in ‘Wanted’.
ILLBLISS – Powerful
From a Bank Manager to one of Nigeria’s most respected rappers, illbliss Claims his ‘Oga Boss’ status with his 3rd studio album ‘Powerful’.
On the album, the rapper takes his fans through a journey of his life, thoughts, motivation and his supernatural inspired business ideas of success.
RUNTOWN – Ghetto University
When you have DJ Khaled on the intro of an album, then you know you are in for a sweet ride.
Baring in mind that Runtown was relatively unknown until January 2014 when he dropped ‘Gallardo’, the singer/rapper made sure his debut album is Legendary. Major Key!
