See The Cheap Phones This Man Stole That Has Landed Him In Court


A 29-year-old man, Seyi Ogunlana, who allegedly stole two cell phones valued at N40,000, has been arraigned before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Ogunlana, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and malicious damage, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The prosecutor, Inspector Gabriel Ekundayo, said the accused and one other at large, stole the phones in a shop belonging to the complainant, Musa Baba.

He said Ogunlana and his accomplice, operating on a motorcycle, stole a Guaza Android phone valued N30, 000 and a Techno phone worth N10,000 from the complainant shop located on Omilana Street. Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos.

“Unfortunately, the duo ran into a Toyota Camry Saloon car belonging to one Nwachukwu Ebem and damaged the headlight valued at N38, 000.

“The accomplice ran away while Ogunlana was arrested,’’ Ekundayo told the court.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 409, 285(5)(A) and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till March 2, 2016, for sentencing.
