254 teachers have dragged the Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike to the National Industrial Court in Bayelsa state, following the non-payment of their salaries since February 2016.
Punch reports that the problem started when the Governor announced that his administration will no longer pay the salaries of teachers who work in demonstration schools of institutions like; The Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, and Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, because the students pay school fees.
The teachers asked the court to order Wike to pay their salaries adding that their employers refused to pay them since he made the announcement.
They also prayed the court to declare as illegal, the decision of the Rivers Governor to stop the payment of their salaries.
Also, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state described Governor Nyesom Wike as a bloodthirsty and satanic politician.
