Nigeria’s Chris Obi Joins Cast Of CBS Series, “Star Trek: Discovery”

British-Nigerian actor Chris Obi has joined the cast of upcoming CBS All Access series, Star Trek: Discovery.

The Snow White and the Huntsman actor was cast alongside Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo and the trio will play Klingons- members of an alien race that is a big part of the Star Trek story.

Obi will play T’Kuvma, a Klingon leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses. Latif will play Kol, commanding officer of the Klingons and protégé of T’Kuvma. Chieffo will play L’Rell, the battle deck commander of the Klingon ship.

Obi, Latif and Chieffo will join the previously-cast Douglas Jones, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp, who were the first three actors to join the series.

Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on CBS Television Network in May 2017 and all subsequent episodes streaming exclusively in the U.S. on digital service CBS All Access. It will be distributed concurrently on Netflix in 188 countries and through Bell Media in Canada.
